Though all forecasts pointed to rain, Stony Brook woke up to snow on Monday, March 31. SBU Transit service was suspended for two hours while roads were cleared, but classes remained in session.
Parking enforcement is out in full force during the first week of classes. Parking tickets were given most frequently during the first two weeks of last semester, including 398 on the first day of classes last fall. This was over five times the number of tickets given on an average day during the year, according to the university parking records.
Being a commuter, while having the benefit of a home cooked meal, also has disadvantages that residents do not have to deal with, like commuting and having a harder time meeting new people. But, to those who are commuting, try to get involved on the campus. It will definitely help you meet new people, make new friends and make Stony Brook feel like a much smaller place than it really is.
