Stony Brook University students are feeling the effects of the recent changes to the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) schedule due to the new line connecting the LIRR to Grand Central Station.

In an attempt to find housing, commuter students turn to SBU’s housing section of their website, but on the website, one of the first things mentioned is Stony Brook disclaiming themselves, saying that they do not vet any of the listings.
Parking enforcement is out in full force during the first week of classes. Parking tickets were given most frequently during the first two weeks of last semester, including 398 on the first day of classes last fall. This was over five times the number of tickets given on an average day during the year, according to the university parking records.
