After a historic loss in its season opener at Florida, the Stony Brook men’s basketball team rebounded in a big way on the back of forward Kenan Sarvan.
As the second football head coach in Stony Brook history, Priore has helped transform the program from a state of mediocrity into one of respectability. However, the 62-year-old coach is now in the final year of a contract extension from 2018.
Stony Brook will face off against the Fordham Rams on Sept. 25. Despite Fordham’s winless record, the Seawolves should not expect a cakewalk this Saturday.
Additionally, Stony Brook will play two non-conference games, which will bring its total to eight games – the maximum number that the NCAA has allowed teams to play.
All 11 games on the Seawolves’ schedule were wiped on July 17, when the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) announced that it was suspending the fall football season, with the intent to play in spring 2021 instead.
Fifty-one weeks ago, Stony Brook Football hosted Sacred Heart University at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium and lost 38-10. On Saturday, the Seawolves flipped the script and dominated the Pioneers in nearly every aspect of their 45-7 victory.
All things considered, there are plenty of positives that can be taken from the start of the season, as several candidates have emerged as the team’s go-to scorer.
