Stony Brook fell behind Rhode Island 3-2 in the second period of Saturday afternoon’s game and, despite many opportunities to tie the game, never climbed back. This weekend’s split makes Stony Brook’s 2017-18 regular season record 21-7-4.
The Stony Brook hockey team outplayed New York University for the majority of the game on Saturday, Feb. 10 at The Rinx in Hauppauge, outscoring the Violets 4-1 in the final 57 minutes of regulation time, bringing the game into overtime.
The Stony Brook hockey team was unable to secure a win at The Rinx in Hauppauge for the first time in over a year on Sunday, falling to Syracuse by a score of 4-2 in their first home loss since Oct. 30, 2016 in the same match-up.
Stony Brook improved to a perfect 4-0 record this season after Saturday’s win and a 7-2 victory over Rutgers the previous night. This is their best start since the 2015-16 squad won their first five games.
