Stony Brook won its second straight contest for the first time all season on Saturday night, topping Maine 19-7 and improving to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in CAA games.
This Saturday, Stony Brook Football will host defending Colonial Athletic Association champ Maine . Last year, the Seawolves were unable to pull off an upset as Maine won 19-14 in Orono, Maine.
In a tournament structure where momentum is just as important as talent, the Seawolves shot out of the gates at the America East Quarterfinals, blowing out Maine 80-54. The contest was never in question for Stony Brook, who went on a 7-0 run to start the game and never looked back from there.
The Stony Brook football team put together a hard-fought second half against CAA powerhouse Maine on Saturday, but in the end, they could not come away with a season-saving victory. The Seawolves (3-5, 1-4 in CAA) lost by the score of 19-14, and were eliminated from FCS playoff contention.
