The Stony Brook men’s basketball team remains undefeated at their home confines of Island Federal Arena this season, as the Seawolves thoroughly beat up on an NAIA opponent, the Point Park Pioneers, by a score of 83-39 on Tuesday, Dec. 15.
Murphy’s Law — anything that can go wrong will go wrong — was in full effect for the Stony Brook men’s basketball team on Saturday, Feb. 8 as the Seawolves fell 81-64 to the New Hampshire Wildcats on the road in Lundholm Gymnasium.
A showdown between rivals Stony Brook (19-1, 7-0) and Binghamton (13-6, 2-4) displayed a pair of teams with the two best overall records in the America East. The matchup did not disappoint, as neither team separated by more than 12 points during the entire contest.
Stony Brook (18-1, 6-0) set the tone early on against their rivals with a commanding 10-0 lead just three minutes into the first quarter, a lead the Seawolves did not relinquish for the rest of the matchup.
After a series of passes, sophomore guard Timmy Rose netted a wide open three point shot with 14 seconds left in the contest, a nail in Stony Brook’s coffin.
To find success this season, Stony Brook will need to turn around its recent woes. McCombs’s team has lost five games in a row and eight of its last 11 contests.
