Audra McDonald concert leaves Staller over the rainbow

The snow outside did not stop them. As the audience filled for the arts, the seats of the Staller Center on Saturday night, they gazed upon a black grand piano reflecting the blue lights above it. Some were Broadway enthusiasts and others had seen the performer at other locales. As the lights dimmed, the audience clapped softly while her pianist, drummer and cellist walked on to the stage. Then, Audra McDonald took the stage in a black floor-length, sleeveless dress and the soft clap elevated to a roar of applause.

Stony Brook’s Staller Center for the Arts is celebrating its 25th anniversary of providing quality arts and entertainment for both the University and the surrounding Long Island community. Alan Inkles, the Director of the Staller Center, is the man who has made it all possible. Some of the artists to look forward to this season are Bill Cosby, Audra McDonald, Wynton Marsalis, The Salzburg Marionette Company and more.

Staller Center Celebrates 25 Years With Big Names

As Stony Brook University kicks off a new year, its students and staff have a reason to be thankful for the building with those big steps covered in grass, other than it being a good place to relax. This year is the 25th anniversary of the Staller Center, where all types of art and culture are expressed to the student body every year to wide acclaim.
