With their 2-0 victory over Binghamton Sunday, the Seawolves cinched an America East playoff spot. Sophomore Stella Norman and senior Larissa Nysch each scored for the Seawolves, who improved to 9-5-1 overall and 4-2-0 in the America East Tournament.
Ashley Castanio thrives at goalkeeping for the Women's Soccer team. This year is going to be different for these Seawolves, and Castanio will be at the head of it all, being a wall in the net.
The UMass-Lowell River Hawks came into their Sunday afternoon matchup with the Stony Brook Seawolves losing their first 10 games of the season. But it was important for the Seawolves to not over look this game. “You have to learn very early how to fear no one but respect everyone” 29th year Coach Sue Ryan said after the game. “Our goal is to protect our home turf” she added, and that’s what the Seawolves did on Sunday, defeating the River Hawks 1-0 to improve to 7-3-1 on the season.
The Seawolves netted two goals in the final 20 minutes of the game on Sunday to defeat Siena 3-1. Sophomore Danielle Fuller and freshmen Leah Yurko and Lindsay Hutchinson all scored their first collegiate goals in the win.
Freshman Raven Edwards’ equalizer at the 83rd minute saved the Seawolves as a shot from freshman Stella Norman got into Loyola’s goal after deflecting on Edwards’ back.
