Stony Brook loses close battle at Providence

In the second game of a difficult 4-game road trip, the Stony Brook men’s basketball team lost 82-78 to the Providence Friars (6-5) on Saturday, Dec. 14, dropping their second consecutive game and falling to 7-5 on the season. The Seawolves held a second-half lead again in the third meeting between the America East and Big East schools but were unable to beat the size and physicality of the Friars.

Turnovers an issue as Seawolves fall in Battle of Long Island

Seeking their first victory in the Battle of Long Island since 2015, the Stony Brook men’s basketball team could not seal the deal in the final minutes and ultimately fell 71-63 to the Hofstra Pride (7-4), snapping their two-game winning streak and dropping their record to 7-4 on the season.

Olaniyi’s career night helps Stony Brook rout Brown

Despite being surprisingly absent from his usual place in the starting lineup, junior forward Elijah Olaniyi set new career highs as the Stony Brook men’s basketball team overcame an early deficit to blow by the Brown Bears (5-4) by a final score of 79-63, improving to 7-3 having won seven of their last eight games.

Latimer’s three not enough as Stony Brook falls in OT to Yale

With 19 seconds left and the Stony Brook men’s basketball team down by just two against the Yale Bulldogs, sophomore guard Miles Latimer fired a shot from behind the three-point line, having missed all of his downtown attempts on the night so far. Island Federal Credit Union Arena erupted in raucous cheer as the ball sank through the net to give the Seawolves a 62-61 lead, but the excitement was short-lived as the Bulldogs would force overtime and ultimately reign victorious 74-69 in the season opener.

Men’s Basketball picked to finish third in Ford’s first year
