Softball stays red-hot, sweeps Maine

The Stony Brook softball team’s starting pitching was once again dominant over the weekend, as the Seawolves swept Maine in a three-game set. The three victories extended the team’s winning streak to ten and helped SBU inch closer to clinching the top seed in the America East tournament.

Cukrov earns Pitcher of the Week honors

Junior Allison Cukrov dominated her opponents this week, and in honor of this, the America East Conference decided to name her Pitcher of the Week. Cukrov went 4-0 this week and allowed a total of three runs in 26 innings, en route to the victories against Columbia, Hofstra and a pair against UMass-Lowell for the first place Seawolves.

Women’s Softball sweeps UMBC after delays

The Stony Brook Women's Softball team was not hampered by a three-day delay as they brought out the broom against UMBC, taking two of two contests on the road. The former contest was a 3-2 win, the latter favoring the Seawolves 2-1. These wins improved the Seawolves to a 12-12 record, with a 4-1 standing in conference play.

Softball red-hot over break

While the students were away on their spring breaks, the Stony Brook Softball team was red-hot, winning five of their six games played over the break. The Seawolves hosted the Stony Brook Invitational over the first weekend, March 15 and 16 but Mother Nature played a role, cancelling Saturday’s action.

The Stony Brook University softball team and its freshman pitcher Allison Cukrov picked up two victories on Saturday afternoon against the University of Maine Black Bears. With the victories, Cukrov broke the school record for shutout victories and won her 20th game of the season.

Stony Brook softball needed just four and a half innings to put away Hartford on Sunday, which finished off a three-game sweep. Starting pitcher freshman Allison Cukrov pitched well again for the Seawolves, as she picked up her eighth victory of the season. She gave up just four hits and struck out four batters in five innings of work.
