A go-ahead double by senior outfielder Shayla Giosia broke a scoreless tie in the sixth inning to push the Stony Brook softball team to a 2-0 first-round win over Maine.
The softball team came away with a pair of wins this Sunday, as the Seawolves blew past both Morgan State in a 15-0 shutout and Mount St. Mary’s in a 3-2, eight-inning bout.
“Our goal all season has been to repeat, which is tough to do in any sport, at any level,” coach Megan Bryant said on Thursday after her team’s opener against UMBC.
The Stony Brook softball team’s starting pitching was once again dominant over the weekend, as the Seawolves swept Maine in a three-game set. The three victories extended the team’s winning streak to ten and helped SBU inch closer to clinching the top seed in the America East tournament.
