This past academic year, questions were raised regarding the contract situations of two head coaches of marquee Stony Brook University teams.
The irony in it all is that Director of Athletics Shawn Heilbron — the man negotiating these contracts — is working without one himself.

Coming into this past season, Stony Brook had significant holes to fill. Losses in leadership, talent and production from the 2021 team led to low expectations from the outside world. Being newcomers in a stronger conference did not help matters, either.
