Stony Brook University held their annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 10 in the Student Activity Center (SAC) auditorium to express gratitude for both past and active military members, as well as honor the ones who have lost their lives.
Two seasons ago, Stony Brook graduate guard Elijah Olaniyi came into his own, solidifying himself as a star as a junior by putting up averages of 18.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. The Seawolves finished 20-13 and in second place in the America East, but were bounced by Hartford in the semifinals of the conference tournament.
Caught in the middle of another offseason roster reupholstering, redshirt-sophomore forward Frankie Policelli is back for his third season on the Stony Brook men’s basketball team, this time with the highest expectations yet. The Seawolves were picked to win the America East in the conference’s preseason poll, but Policelli showed just how nonchalantly they are handling the spotlight.
On Nov. 5, President Biden’s $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill passed in Congress and will be signed by the President within the next week. The bill will provide billions of dollars to states for the improvement of roads and other transportation infrastructure, as well as the expansion of broadband internet service, endeavors which will hopefully stimulate the economy.
Winners of three straight after their 22-17 road win against Maine last weekend, the Stony Brook football will travel to face the No. 8 Villanova Wildcats at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13. The Wildcats occupy second place in the Colonial Athletic Association with a 7-2 (5-1 CAA) record and are coming off a 35-0 road win against Elon.
