The Paul W. Zuccaire Gallery’s current faculty exhibition “RECKONING” features “Rhumb-Line,” an interactive sound installation which sheds light on climate change, urbanization and habitat destruction through spatial listening.
The fourth annual “Art in Focus” lecture series began with a presentation delivered by art historian Helen A. Harrison that explored the role of jazz as a possible influence in the work of abstract expressionist artist Jackson Pollock.
Performance art ensemble Sputter Box will stage its second full-length concert on Thursday, Oct. 10, at Areté Venue and Gallery in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The concert program, entitled “Music for 8×11 Rug,” will feature premieres by composers Alan Hankers, Joe Krycia and Christopher Lucius Newman. The performance kicks off an exciting season of artistic collaborations for the ensemble.
On Feb. 7 at 8 p.m., faculty members and students of Stony Brook University’s Music Department and guest artists will present a concert entitled “The Music of Sheila Silver: A Celebration,” honoring the composer and Stony Brook University professor.
