“The Future is Female.” This phrase is purported to be a feminist rallying cry and if you question its merit, you are seen as anti-feminist. But what if you are a feminist who does question the merits of this phrase?
Halfway through a conversation about how women and femmes often downplay encounters that constitute harassment or assault by saying “It’s just par for the course” or “He didn’t mean it” or “That’s just the way it is,” I realized I had been doing the exact same thing.

Most “staying safe on campus” articles read more like rape-prevention articles. Basically saying to people at-risk “make sure that, if someone gets raped, it’s not you.”
If someone is being taught the dynamics of consent when they are entering college, it is too late. Sexual education as a whole needs to improve drastically.
