An article published by The Statesman earlier this year encouraged a much-needed conversation about race. The original article, highlighting the difference between the terms “Black” and “African American,” discussed the great diversity within the African diaspora. In this video, The Statesman consults Black students in the SBU community to give more insight into the variety of experiences, values and ideas shared by Black Americans.
