Melissa Z. Y. Woo, Senior Vice President for Information Technology & Enterprise and Chief Information Officer, will be moving to Michigan State University, according to an email sent to faculty and staff on Friday.

Woo, who will be starting as Chief Information Officer at MSU, plans to leave her role on Nov. 1. 

“The strategic implementation of information services at a top research university is vital to its success,” Interim President Michael Bernstein wrote in the email. “Melissa moved Stony Brook University’s Division of Information Technology into a more proactive organization, supporting all client communities at our University.”

The university plans to search for an Interim Chief Information Officer over the coming weeks.
