True to its title, “The Creative Explosion” event that took place on Oct. 3rd electrified the SAC auditorium to higher levels of excitement than in recent years. To choose one word that best epitomized the central theme of the night, it would be just that: creative.

Fortunately, I am not talking about Miley Cyrus, but of the 16 year old Pakistani native who has taken women’s rights and education to the world stage- Malala Yousafzai. She advocated for girls’ education with the help of her father, Ziuaddin Yousafzai and gained attention through several media outlets including the New York Times and local Pakistani television channels.
Paul Greengrass is a very polarizing director. His previous two films, “Green Zone” and “United 93,” covered the beginning and middle of the United States War on Terror and in a way, “Captain Phillips” is a spiritual successor to both of those films.
